ORIGINE ET HISTORIQUE DU PROJET
Depuis 2009, l’association Art Cade développe le projet Archist au sein de la Galerie des Grands Bains Douches de Plaine ( Marseille 13001) et dans différents quartiers de Marseille.
« ARCHIST propose de croiser les regards d’artistes, d’architectes, d’urbanistes, de paysagistes, de sociologues,… en s’appuyant sur les œuvres et la ville comme matériaux de réflexion. Considérons la ville comme une œuvre d’art commune. Non pas dans le sens enjôleur d’une collectivité pensante à l’unisson mais dans le sens où nous avons à faire à une œuvre jamais aboutie et continuellement à la recherche de son propre équilibre et que dans ce sens nous avons, toutes générations, toutes disciplines, une responsabilité sur son dessein. Au centre du projet ARCHIST et de nos préoccupations, se trouve la question du « bien vivre ensemble ». Nous souhaitons expérimenter un certain nombre de projets d’expositions, ateliers, workshops, bal populaire, carnaval, rencontres/débats, parc, jardin pour enfants, conçus comme des rituels de rencontres et d’écoute du quartier et de ses habitants. »

En 2018, sur les conseils de la Drac PACA, l’Etablissement Public d’Aménagement Euroméditerrané propose à Art Cade de déployer le projet Archist en répondant à l’Appel à Manifestation d’Intérêt MOVE destiné à penser les étapes d’un urbanisme transitoire.
Euroméditerranée est une Opération d’Intérêt National engagée en 1995 par l'Etat, la ville de Marseille, la Communauté Urbaine Marseille Provence Métropole, la Région Provence Alpes Côte d'Azur et le Conseil Général des Bouches du Rhône. En 2007 l’État et les collectivités décident d'étendre le périmètre de l'opération vers le Nord sur 169 hectares. Avec 480 hectares, Euroméditerranée est désormais la plus grande opération de rénovation urbaine d'Europe. MOVE se déploie sur l’ensemble du périmètre tant sur l’espace public que sur des sites bâtis, selon les enjeux des différents quartiers qui le composent et en lien avec le phasage opérationnel du projet.
Pour répondre à l’AMI d’Euromediterranée, l’association CIRCULAIRE est créée, en mai 2019, réunissant 22 personnes ( artistes, architectes, opérateurs culturels, médiateurs, paysagistes).
En juin 2019, Euroméditerrané nous informe que nous sommes lauréats du programme MOVE, sur le périmètre d’Euromed 2, avec 4 autres projets de l’économie sociale et solidaire.
Nous signons un bail d’occupation précaire pour 3 ans, jusqu’à fin 2023.
Le site attribué, offre 1200m2 et 600m2 de cour extérieure, emblématique de l’architecture industrielle du début du siècle dans ce quartier de Marseille. Il est situé à 5 minutes à pied du métro Bougainville, jouxtant la gare de dépôt des bus de la RTM, entre le groupe scolaire Arenc Bacchas / Maternelle Extérieur, et l’Unité d’Hébergement d’Urgence La Minoterie.
Dès juillet 2019, Gwenael Legal, paysagiste et première recrue de l’association travaille sur le territoire, à la rencontres des habitants et des structures.
Entre juillet 2019 et décembre 2019, nous mobilisons les partenaires institutionnels pour nous accompagner dans les travaux du lieu.
La Ville de Marseille, la Région Sud, le département des Bouches du Rhône, et l’Etat se mobilisent.
En janvier 2020, nous entrons dans les lieux.
Entre janvier 2020 et avril 2023, nous réalisons les travaux du lieu, tout en proposant une programmation régulière, et en travaillant nos modalités de gouvernance (dans le cadre d’un DLA, avec France Active, et Alima Bajnouni, juriste, consultante et spécialiste des Communs).
ORIGIN AND BACKGROUND OF THE PROJECT
Since 2009, the non-profit organization Art Cade has been developing the ‘Archist ‘project in the ‘Galerie des Grands Bains Douches de Plaine’ (Marseille, 13001) and in various districts of Marseille.
"ARCHIST aims to bring together the gazes of artists, architects, urban planners, landscapers, sociologists, etc., using artworks and the city as reflection’s materials. Let's consider the city as a shared artwork. Not in the flirtatious sense of a community thinking in unison, but in the sense in which we are dealing with a work that is never finished and is constantly seeking its own balance, and that in this sense we, all generations, all disciplines, have a responsibility for its design. At the heart of Project ARCHIST and of our concerns the question of the 'living well together' is lying. We wish to experiment a certain amount of exhibition projects, workshops, popular balls, carnivals, meetings/debates, a park, a children's garden, all designed as meeting and listening’s rituals of the neighbourhood and its residents".

In 2018, following the Drac PACA’s advice (Regional Directorate of Cultural Affairs of the Provence-Alpes-Côte d'Azur region), the Public development establishment ‘Euroméditerranée’ asked Art Cade to develop the Archist project by responding to the ‘MOVE’ Call for Expressions of Interest which aimed to think the stages of a transitional urban planning.
Euroméditerranée is a National Interest Operation launched in 1995 by the French government, the city of Marseille, the Marseille Provence Métropole Urban Community, the Provence Alpes Côte d'Azur Region and the Bouches du Rhône General Council. In 2007, the State and local authorities decided to extend the project's perimeter to the north, covering 169 hectares. With 480 hectares, Euroméditerranée is now the largest urban renewal project in Europe. MOVE is being deployed throughout the overall area, as much in public spaces than on built sites, according to the challenges of the different neighbourhoods that make up the area and in line with the project's operational phasing.
In response to the Euromediterranée's call, the CIRCULAIRE non-profit organization was created in May 2019, bringing together 22 people (artists, architects, cultural operators, mediators, landscape architects).
In June 2019, Euroméditerrané informed us that we had won the MOVE programme within the Euromed 2’s perimeter, along with 4 other social economy projects.
We signed a precarious occupancy lease for 3 years, until the end of 2023.
The assigned site offers 1200m2 and 600m2 of outdoor courtyard, emblematic of the industrial architecture of the beginning of the century in this district of Marseille. It is located a 5-minute walk from the Bougainville metro station, adjacent to the RTM (Public transports’ Agency of Marseille) bus depot station, between the ‘Arenc Bacchas’ school group / Kindergarten ‘Exterieur’, and the Emergency Accommodation Unit ‘La Minoterie’.
Since July 2019, Gwenael Legal, landscaper and first recruit of the non-profit organization has been working on the territory, encountering residents and structures.
Between July 2019 and December 2019, we are mobilizing institutional partners to support us in the construction’s works of the place.
The City of Marseille, the Southern Region, the Bouches du Rhône department, and the State swing into actions.
In January 2020, we enter the premises.
Between January 2020 and April 2023, we carry out the placeworks, while offering a regular program, and working on our governance modalities (as part of a ‘DLA’ –Local support system for social and solidary economy- with the associative network ‘France Active’, and Alima Bajnouni, lawyer, consultant and Commons specialist).
