BOKEH VERSIONS is one of the most influential labels of the past decade. Although the label came to a close in 2025, we felt it was essential to celebrate its sonic legacy. Quite simply, we are not ready to let it go.
For anyone interested in the latest evolutions in dub music, a visit to its bandcamp page is enough to grasp the scope of its curatorial vision and the exceptional quality of the projects it supported over the last ten years. From Canada’s Seekersinternational, to Brazil’s Felinto, and Japan’s Element, Miles Opland brought together a community dedicated to exploring the most experimental forms of dub, dancehall, and everything beyond.
Run by Miles Opland, Bokeh Versions has been a going concern since the end of 2015, a name chosen to signify the labels inherent speciality in dub, disorientation and occasional irreverence (if sometimes unintended).
« Bokeh Versions was an experimental media deca-node from 2015 - 2025 delivering VR swamp dub, non-existent psychobilly, cyberphonk steppas, and pan-ritual industrial. Formerly part of the Bristol Sound mk 3, it is fondly remembered by music journalists, interns and PWYC customers the world over. »
Through Miles and his various projects, including the Avon Terror Corps collective, we are introduced to a large part of Bristol’s underground scene: a host of different labels, promoters, and artists spanning a vast sonic spectrum, from soundsystem culture and the evolving language of bass music to the realms of avant-garde, industrial, and noise.
Bokeh DJ Riddim Force will be taking us on a journey across the wide spectrum of dub, industrial and techno, from Bokeh Versions to Avon Terror Corps, Bristol is coming to Marseille!
Based in Marseille, tireless and community-minded, MYSTIQUE has quickly become an essential figure on the local scene. She ignites dancefloors with relentless energy and rapid-fire rhythms, while also standing out as an activist and one of the city's most engaged cultural voices.
Mystique draws inspiration from the richness of sound system cultures rooted in Latin, Afro-Caribbean, and Arab diasporas, which she showcases with remarkable depth and sensitivity. Widely regarded as a true specialist DJ, she combines an exceptional command of her musical universe with a strong and explicit political consciousness.
Based in São Paulo, FELINTO develops a multifaceted artistic practice in which clinical psychology, music, educational mediation, and hatha yoga are recombined to foster processes of difference and affinity.
Between 2019 and 2025, he released four albums through the English label Bokeh Versions. Exploring multiple artistic languages, Felinto constructs a broad dub continuum that articulates politics, punk ethos, and aesthetics across music, film, performance, dance, and installation.
With the album Futuro Antigo Perpétuo (2021), he organized a support network redirecting cassette sales revenue to Mulheres Possíveis. Through Não Tem Volta, he created a similar initiative supporting the Guarani community of Pico do Jaraguá.
His upcoming album, UTOPIA MILHÃO, scheduled for vinyl release through the Madrid-based label Glossy Mistakes, features collaborations with leading figures of Brazilian experimental music.
For this performance, Felinto will be joined by drummer Blanche Lafuente
BLANCHE LAFUENTE, a drummer from Marseille with roots in punk and jazz, has developed a hybrid practice that brings together improvisation, oral-tradition music, live electronics, and experimental music.
Active both nationally and internationally through numerous projects and collaborations (Nout, Mamiedaragon, Mats Gustafsson’s Fire! Orchestra, Kogoba Basigui alongside Eve Risser and Nainy Diabaté), she will undertake a residency at the Villa Albertine in Atlanta in autumn 2026, where she will study collective musical practices, with a particular focus on church music traditions and drumline culture.
In Marseille, she co-founded Ganagobie with Jo Keïta and Jean Renucci, a project that explores dialogues between musical genres as well as between acoustic and electronic music, drawing on influences such as dub, drum’n’bass, traditional music, and punk.
She also collaborates regularly with theatre and dance, exploring forms in which rhythm, texture, dynamics, and performance intertwine to become a genuine stage language.
ELEMENT, a DJ, producer, and co-owner of the Riddim Chango imprint, was born in Kyoto, Japan, and later relocated to London.
During his 9- year stint in the UK, he immersed himself in UK’s soundsystem culture, music scene, DJing, worked as a Reggae buyer at a second-hand record shop, and launched his label Riddim Chango. His sound, a unique blend of Dub, Roots, and Dancehall, resonates distinctively within the music scene. Notable collaborations include the critically-acclaimed "Freedom" with Jamaican poet Nazamba, a potent exploration of black oppression, and the boundary-pushing Andromeda EP with the LA/JA dancehall collective, Duppy Gun. He released his 12” Particular Angle on Tokyo's experimental label, newdubhall, in June 2023 and awarded No. 5 on UK music magazine Wire's Best Albums of the Year in Dub & Reggae 2023. Expanding his sonic explorations, he launched Parallel Line, a Riddim Chango offshoot focused on Dub’s more experimental side. The label debuted with his own four-track EP, featuring Jamaican MC I Jahbar, pushing Dub into unconventional, leftfield territory. In 2024, Element linked up with French electronic producer Krikor for Kitakagaya Dub, a two-track 7” on Manchester’s evolving Youth label— melding stripped-back futurism with heavyweight dub mechanics. In 2025, two releases are lined up on respected London imprints. First is MAL Recordings, a label known for pushing forward-thinking club sounds with experimental dubby edge. Following that, a release on DIY Recordings, Both projects are set for October, highlighting different sides of Element's production. His live-sets expand on a traditional dub mixing approach, working with a 16-channel mixer and a chain of hardware effects to create a constantly shifting sound environment. Layers of improvised synth lines and live looping blur the line between structure and spontaneity. It’s a performance mode collapsing borders between composition and improvisation with Dubwise style.
